Richard PhilippeRichard Philippe, founder and president of Logi-D, began his career in the medical sector more than 25 years ago. Prior to forming Logi-D, he was employed by Source Medical, the Canadian subsidary of Cardinal Health, for more than nine years. Here, he held the positions of Administration and Operations Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Supply Chain Improvement Manager, and National Consulting Services Manager. In the latter role, he was responsible for the development, implementation and marketing of hospital logistics consulting services across Canada and represented Cardinal Health and the distribution sector on the EHCR (Efficient Healthcare Consumer Response) Canada strategic operating committee. EHCR Canada was a non-profit organization that focused on supply chain integration in the Canadian healthcare industry.

For a number of years, Mr. Philippe was a lecturer at HEC Montréal, a leading North American business school. He was also coordinator for the operations and production management course offered through the school's certificate program. He obtained certification as a Production and Inventory Manager (CPIM) with the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) and contributed to the development of a course on Japanese management models for this association, which he also instructed.

In addition, he developed, in collaboration with Dr. Sylvain Landry, a hospital logistics course as part of HEC Montréal’s Executive Education. Both have since provided this training to professionals in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Vancouver and Singapore. More recently they have also developed, as part of the same program, another course entitled “The Toyota approach in the healthcare sector: Improving supply chain management and value-added activities.”

A member of AHRMM (Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management), Mr. Philippe has spoken a number of times at the Association’s annual conferences. He is also a founding board member of the Healthcare Supply Chain Network (HSCN), a non-profit organization focusing on supply chain integration in Canada’s healthcare industry.



Sylvain LandryDr. Landry is a full professor and Associate Director of the Healthcare Management Hub at HEC Montréal. A founding member of HEC Montréal’s CHAÎNE Research Group, he is also an Affiliated Professor at BEM – Bordeaux Management School (France) – and a member of the scientific review committees for Logistique & Management, and for Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal. Recently, he has been nominated on the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of Health Management and Information, as well as on the Academic Council of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM).

For the past several years he has led a major international research program on the integration of the supply chain in the healthcare sector. In this capacity, he had an opportunity to observe logistics practices in hospitals in numerous countries around the world. His work covers all of the logistics and lean practices in the sector and as such, offers a global vision of its various components. He has authored numerous articles and has spoken on this subject at many conferences. In addition, he has and continues to supervise a number of Master’s theses on the healthcare logistics sector.
