Logi-D, a leading healthcare supply chain automation provider, has announced it will launch 2BIN-iD GEN II, the next generation of RFID-enabled two-bin replenishment solutions, at the 2012 AHRMM Conference and Exhibition in San Antonio, Texas, in early August. Constituting a major leap forward, this patent pending innovation, which will provide real time feedback to users, is the first interactive automated kanban/two-bin replenishment system in healthcare in the world.

Introducing a replenishment panel that features multi-colored LED indicators and touchscreen technology, GEN II was developed by the Logi-D team to complement 2BIN-iD, the internationally renowned RFID-enabled two-bin replenishment solution.

“In keeping with our mission to adapt technologies that have proven their worth in the industrial world to resolve hospital-specific supply chain issues, Logi-D is now incorporating LED technology and an interactive touchscreen into our innovative supply chain solutions; the result is instant feedback to users,” explained Anders Larsson, Director of Marketing at Logi-D and initiator of GEN II. “When users affix the iD tag to the RFID board upon bin depletion, the multi-colored LED indicators will provide instant feedback on the item’s replenishment status, such as an acknowledgement that the tag has been put on the board, a confirmation when the order has been processed, an alert if the item is on backorder, and a signal to facilitate product put away when using VOX-iD, the unique Logi-D voice-enabled material flow support application.”

In addition, the integrated android-enabled interactive touchscreen, which features a user-friendly interface, will facilitate item location and provide vital decision-making information, such as expired or soon to expire products and immediate recall management data.

Commenting on the company’s newest innovation, Richard Philippe, Founder and CEO of Logi-D, added: “Today’s challenged healthcare environment is seeking innovative solutions to improve cost containment and optimize workflows across the various service lines. Two-bin and kanban replenishment systems are gaining popularity as leading lean practices to manage hospital supplies. A pioneer in this field, Logi-D is among the companies that have implemented the greatest number of kanban and two-bin replenishment systems in hospitals internationally. Constantly improving the value the solution generates for its users, in 2005 Logi-D invented 2BIN-iD, the first RFID-enabled two-bin replenishment system in the world. Since then, the Logi-D solution has never stopped evolving to better respond to our customers supply chain challenges. In our ongoing quest to improve hospital supply chains through automation, Logi-D is once again demonstrating its commitment to quality and innovation with the introduction of 2BIN-iD GEN II.”

GEN II will be showcased at the Logi-D booth during the upcoming 2012 AHRMM Conference & Exhibition in San Antonio, where Logi-D will also provide a live demo of its solutions.
